Days like this define the lazy days of summer. We woke up to rain so I cheered everyone up with some blueberry pancakes, Ohio maple syrup, and crispy bacon. Liv and I snuggled in with some books on the couch while Kade played with his castle and Kyle did his usual computer/iPhone check. By 10:00 the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to break through the lingering clouds. I took the opportunity to make up for yesterday’s horrible run and went for an easy, 5 mile recovery run (hopefully helping to work off breakfast). The weather was perfect and after the first crunchy mile, I floated home with the relief that running could still be enjoyable.
We headed out for lunch and spent the afternoon at the pool. Kade was ecstatic to show off his new swimming skills to Kyle. I was ecstatic to see that the last two straight weeks of mornings at the pool had actually resulted in something (best $20 I’ve ever spent…seriously, that’s all we pay for 3 week, Mon-Fri swim lessons). Now, Kyle is out mowing the lawn with his little helper, Liv is fighting her nap, and I’m waiting for quiet so I can sneak off to get ingredients for dinner.
The perfect ending would be burgers outside on the picnic table and a walk to Diary King, or an early bed time and a glass of wine with my husband outside. Maybe we can swing both…
